Internal Parasites and Prevention
Intestinal parasites can be transmissible from pet to pet and from pet to human. For the health of everyone, please review the testing and prevention requirements.

Dogs
- We require a negative intestinal parasite check within the last year. We also recommend annual heartworm testing and monthly prevention.

Cats
- We recommend a current intestinal parasite check for those cats who spend any time outside.

External Parasites
No pet should have to deal with fleas and ticks. With that in mind, every pet will be examined for external parasites upon arrival. If found, your pet will be treated accordingly at your expense. We use a variety of preventatives such as Vectra 3D and Capstar.

Food
To minimize digestive upset, we feed Royal Canin GI Low Fat dry dog food. To avoid digestive upset altogether, we suggest that you bring your pet's food from home. Please be sure to send enough food for the entire stay and provide us with clear feeding instructions.

Medications
There is no charge to administer oral medications, supplements and vitamins. We ask that all medications come to us with clear instructions, including dosage and frequency. All prescription medications must be labeled and in their original container. There is a small fee for administering injectable medications, such as insulin.

Emergencies
It's no fun worrying about your pet while you're on vacation! With our veterinarians right next door we are capable of handling any emergency situation. We ask that you provide us with a way to contact you quickly in the event that there is an emergency. If there is a life threatening medical emergency, decisive action will be taken immediately by a veterinarian and then you will be contacted . If the issue is not life threatening a veterinarian will contact you to discuss options and help you make decisions regarding your pets health. All treatment costs incurred are the responsibility of the owner. In the event of a weather related emergency, we will institute our evacuation plan and contact you as soon as we are able.

Aggressive pets
There is the occasional pet that does not adapt well to different environments or because of a lack of socialization does not adapt well to other people or animals. We can accommodate your pet, but please realize we utilize additional staff and extra time. There may be handling fees associated with the aggressive or especially difficult pet.
