Des Whittall, Group Manager
When I moved to Texas in 2012 to purchase and work at the Resort for Pets, I didn’t really know what I was getting into. Not only was it the first time that Louisa and I would work for our own business together, it was my first time working with pets! We were lucky to find such a strong team of people who cared so much about each and every animal trusted into their care. Since then, I’ve learned more than I ever thought I would about how we care for and keep our guests safe while making their stay as enjoyable as possible. I’ve loved the change of pace and it still brings a smile to my face when I see the dogs playing in the yard or the cats stretching out in the sun. As the group manager, I oversee the operations and businesses that are BCRAH and Resort for Pets. I work closely with Bandy to ensure that we achieve our ambitions for quality of care and ensuring that each client and pet that we come into contact with is treated as a part of our family. I love the opportunity to make a difference- to help build an exceptional and beautiful Resort where you can drop off your pets to have as great a vacation as you are. I get to help facilitate that, be a part of our day- to – day operations and work with a wonderful team. All the while, we continue to grow and provide new services and options so we can help all of our pets stay healthy and happy.Outside of work, most of my time is spent with my family. Dr. Louisa and I have 2 children, Charlotte and Ivy- you will see both of them around the Resort from time to time. I also enjoy playing computer games when I get the chance. We have 3 cats, Bubble, a black and white moggy rescued from a farm in North Wales when I was still in college; Malcolm, who Dr. Louisa rescued from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and Zeus, our Burmese who came from a rescue in Florida! We also have 2 rescue dogs, a Terrier mix named Wolfie and a Beagle mix, Odie. I guess I never planned to have quite that many pets, but when you are married to a veterinarian, it’s an important part of your life!
